Happy Spring!
Welcome to this April 2014 edition of Special Interest Group 12, Perspectives on Augmentative and Alternative Communication! We are delighted to have Meher Banajee as the guest editor. Along with Meher, a variety of authors, Gail Van Tatenhove; Angela Mercurio-Standridge; David Kay; Celeste Helling and Jamila Minga; David Beukelman, Susan Fager, and Jenna LeDoux; and Debbie McBride and Mary Ann Abbott, contributed their expertise to share information on assessment in AAC. The emphasis was to present different perspectives on ways to assess language development in individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication. This topic follows along nicely with the two live online chats that SIG 12 has presented over the past year.
