As a division, we once again have begun the year with a major event, our second Leadership Conference in Augmentative and Alternative Communication. I am pleased to report that we have had a successful Leadership Conference in both focus and participation. We continued our concentration on issues surrounding AAC assessment, now examining models of service delivery. A descriptive summary of our Leadership Conference activities appears on page 17.
It is that time again when we turn our attention to submissions for the 2001 ASHA Convention to be held in New Orleans, November 15–18. I am pleased to report that proposals on topics within AAC will once again be considered within their own subcommittee. I have the privilege of serving as subcommittee chair for the 2001 meeting and hope that many outstanding proposals will be submitted within the area. Please do not hesitate to share with me your ideas and wish list for topics and presenters as we shape the program offerings for the annual Convention.
