This issue of our newsletter has three major purposes. First, it is our annual presentation of the abstracts on sessions on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) along with other information for the November Annual Convention. Second, it is intended to provide an update on several important initiatives and activities of our division. Third, it continues to provide a forum for the discussion of important issues related to our professional practice and/or research base. The newsletter also continues to provide other information such as the conference calendar and electronic sites.
During recent years, there has been increased communication and collaboration between the AAC subcommittee of the ASHA Program Committee and the Division 12 Steering Committee. This year we were able to develop several sessions in direct response to your input. A summary of the major division-sponsored activities is provided in the following seven paragraphs and highlighted in the day-by-day list of all the sessions accepted by the AAC Subcommittee. There are several new features this year, including another method of improving our opportunities for networking.
