Instructors everywhere and in every field know the buzz word of Y2K and beyond is “distance learning.” Questions abound, “Will distance learning replace live instructors?”; “Will bricks and mortar universities fall by the wayside?”; or “Should credentials be offered over the Web and if so, how do we insure quality?” Distance learning is a hot topic in the Chronicle of Higher Education with at least a daily posting on the topic through the email newsletter as well as articles and book reviews to keep instructors posted.
How is AAC meeting the challenge of distance learning? We definitely have our foot in the door. This issue of the Newsletter is meant to bring members up to date on distance learning and to encourage the flow of information among members on distance learning.
