Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Faye Warren, and I am very honored to be here to speak with you. When I received the news of being given this honor, I inquired of Dr. Lloyd who my audience would be. When given the fact that most of you are speech pathologists, I began to think about the letters that most of you have behind your professional names, that is the CCC. I asked a friend who is a speech-language pathologist what this stands for. The answer was, Certainly Chic Clothes! I thought to myself, well, I can put that behind my name too, sometimes. Just kidding! I know your well earned letters mean Certificate of Clinical Competence. I looked into majoring in Augmentative Communication Disorders when I was in High School. Therefore, I know it is an intensive, challenging degree program. Let us now move this speech in the direction of how I became the loquacious young woman before you and the purpose of this speech.
