Hello Division 12 affiliates. I hope everyone had a good summer and that you are gearing up for the fall. The Division 12 Steering Committee has had a very busy May, June, and July. The new Steering Committee (Cassie Sementelli, Susan McCloskey, Dick Lytton, Carole Zangari, and Amy Finch) met at the National Office towards the end of May for our first face-to-face meeting. This meeting was designed as a Strategic Planning session and was led by Stan Dublinski, senior advisor for planning at the ASHA National Office. This was a very productive planning session. The focus areas of the Strategic Plan are: (a) clinical concerns, (b) pre-service academic and clinical education, (d) research, (e) leadership conference, (f) membership recruitment and retention, (g) division activities and participation, (h) Perspectives on Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and (i) e-mail list and Web site. Although there is not room in this issue of Perspectives to provide more detailed information, the Steering Committee would like Division 12 affiliates to review the plan and provide feedback. An annoucement about availability of the plan will be sent out via the Division 12 E-mail List and will appear in the next issue of Perspectives.
