This issue of our newsletter provides the abstracts for sessions on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) along with other information for the November Annual Convention. The newsletter also continues to provide an update on division initiatives and activities and other information, such as the conference calendar and electronic sites.
During recent years, there has been increased communication and collaboration between the AAC Subcommittee of the ASHA Program Committee and the division Steering Committee. This year your division and the program subcommittee were able to develop several sessions in direct response to your input. Convention highlights are provided by Kathleen Kangas, 1998 Subcommittee Chair, on page 17. The major division-sponsored activities are noted in the day-by-day presentation of all the sessions/abstracts accepted by the AAC Subcommittee. There are some new features developed this year by the AAC subcommittee. We are continuing with scheduled opportunities for networking and sessions by consumers. Some of the AAC highlights are briefly discussed in the following paragraphs.
