This issue of Perspectives focuses on this challenging topic of funding for AAC devices. We thank our authors for their thought-provoking articles as well as our guest editor Katya Hill for coordinating this issue of Perspectives. The issue highlights different views and ideas in the area of funding. These views include: (a) five important rules of commitment for speech-language-pathologists (SLPs), (b) family perspectives on funding, (c) role of culture in the process of developing strong advocates needed for obtaining funding, (d) roles and responsibilities of manufacturers during the funding process, and (e) use patterns of individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as it affects funding.
